Museum hours
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday–Sunday: 11 a.m.–5 p.m.; last entry is at 4 p.m.
- Thursday: 12 p.m.–8 p.m.; last entry is at 7 p.m.
- Closed Monday and in observance of Juneteenth (6/19), Fourth of July, Indigenous People’s Day, Election Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.
Updated Ticket Procedures:

- Timed, advance tickets are recommended.
- Entrance times are on the hour, every hour, starting at 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. (PDT).
- Admission is accepted up to 30 minutes after your ticket time.
- Tickets are released four weeks in advance.
- JANM Members, please show your current membership card for free admission.
- For NARM and Western Reciprocal Membership Programs and other free or discount programs and passes, reservation is not required; please show proof of eligibility upon entry. Entry will be based on hourly capacity limits. See below for a list of additional free and discounted admission offers.
- See below for dual admission tickets to visit JANM and Go For Broke National Education Center on Saturday and Sunday.
- Starting 1/1/23: General admission will only be free all day every third Thursday of the month. All other Thursdays: free from 5 p.m.–8 p.m.
Before You Arrive:
- Please print your ticket or download it to your mobile device.
- Masks are strongly recommended, except for children age two and younger.
- Symptom Check: Visitors are required to self check themselves for COVID-19 symptoms prior to entry. Visitors who are feeling sick or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms (such as cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, headache, or any other symptoms), or who have had contact with anyone confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19; are under isolation or quarantine orders should stay home, regardless of vaccination status. Visitors displaying COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to enter the museum. See CDC Symptom Check guidelines here. Go For Broke National Education Center
Same-day adult admission tickets for JANM and the Go For Broke National Education Center (located in JANM’s Historic Building) are available on Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets are $20.
JANM Admission Discounts
JANM honors a variety of free and discounted admission programs. Please check the list below for a select number of offers and email visitorservices@janm.org for other discounts.
Museums4all Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT)
Free admission for up to four individuals with valid Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card and form of photo identification. Please present Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) EBT cards with a valid form of photo identification at the front desk.
Educator / Teacher
$7 off adult admission for active educators, teachers, instructors, and professors. Please provide the name or badge of an educational institution or school district. This discount excludes school non-educational staff and private tutors.
American Automobile Association (AAA)
$1 off adult admission for valid American Automobile Association (AAA) card holders. Please present a AAA card at the front desk.
Military
$6 off adult admission for active duty personnel and veterans with military identification.
Blue Star Museums
Free admission for active duty military and their families up to a total of five individuals from Armed Forces Day to Labor Day. Please present a valid military Identification and additional guests must be accompanied by a guest with military identification.
Smithsonian Affiliate Reciprocal Program
Free admission for two individuals, member discounts on purchases made at JANM for concert and lecture tickets, and discounts at the JANM Store. Please present your current Smithsonian Affiliate membership card with a sticker indicating the optional Reciprocal Membership, and a valid form of identification.
Note that not all Smithsonian Affiliate memberships include Reciprocal benefits for free admission, that not all Smithsonian Affiliate museums participate in the program, and that some participating museums restrict benefits. “Family” benefits are defined by each participating institution.
Public Library Family Pass
Seasonal. Please present a County of Los Angeles Public Library Pass and a valid form of photo identification. The pass is good for two adults and two children.
North American Reciprocal Membership Program (NARM)
Members of the North American Reciprocal Membership Program (NARM) receive free admission to JANM.
Western Reciprocal Membership Program
Members of the Western Reciprocal Membership Program receive free admission to JANM.
Metro Rider Discount
$2 off adult general admission for Metro riders. Please show your TAP card, Metro employee ID, or LA County employee ID (discount does not apply to special exhibitions).
