Jazz Meets Nagauta in Concert

Resident Artists Performance Series

Featuring: Glenn Horiuchi, Lillian Nakano, Tom Kurai, William Roper, and Francis Wong

California Arts Council recipients and Museum artists in residence, Glenn Horiuchi, an Asian Improv recording artist and Lillian Nakano, a shamisen (Japanese, three-stringed instrument) artist, present their third concert at the Museum. Joined by guest artists Tom Kurai of Kishin Daiko on taiko drums, William Roper, a philharmonic concert and jazz tuba player, and San Francisco-based Francis Wong, one of the premier Asian American saxophonists in the jazz recording industry, their music brings together an eclectic blend of nagauta (Classical Japanese) and jazz styles. Students in the shamisen class will also perform.

Members $5, non-members $9 includes Museum admission. Reservations required. Limited seating available.
