A cantankerous Chinese woman nearing the end of her life flees her home in Manila after her American grandson reveals a family secret. On the plane, she initiates an imaginary conversation with him in which she exposes the secrets of her own past. From the Second World War to the Marcos Era, from the Great Wall of China to Washington's Air and Space Museum, her epic story meanders in time and space as she struggles to control her own autobiography.
Please join young playwright Clarence Coo for this inspirational reading of Bahala Na. Mr. Coo's other work has been seen at the Asian Theatre Workshop of the Mark Taper Forum, Theatre Virginia in Richmond and the Meridian Coffeehouse in Williamsburg, Virginia.
