Outdoor Movie Screening: "The Crimson Kimono" (1959)

FREE and open to the public

The Crimson Kimono is presented by the Haunted Little Tokyo Film Festival in partnership with the Japanese American National Museum and Visual Communications.

This 1959 black and white film stars James Shigeta as Detective Joe Kojaku and Glenn Corbett as Detective Sgt. Charlie Bancroft—two cops who are friends and Korean War veterans who attempt to solve the murder of a local entertainer. A love triangle soon develops between a key witness, Christine Downes (Victoria Shaw), and the two principal leads.

A limited number of chairs will be set up, available first-come, first-serve. Guests are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets, but please be mindful of blocking others’ views of the screen.

Popcorn by Buttery Popcorn Co. and food by Takuma’s Burger will be available for purchase.

Free admission to JANM all day so come early to see the exhibitions (open noon to 8 p.m., last admission at 7:30 p.m.).
