Sincerely Miné Okubo will be screening at the Seattle Asian American Film Festival, which will be held from February 23–March 5, 2023. This short biographical film is one of five films that are part of the festival’s program, Through the Generations: Japanese American and Canadian Stories.
This film focuses on the artistic span and career of Miné Okubo, a Japanese American artist known for her graphic memoir Citizen 13660 that chronicled her experiences of World War II incarceration. Directed by Yuka Murakami and produced by JANM’s Emmy Award-winning Frank H. Watase Media Arts Center, this film was a part of the Museum’s exhibition, Miné Okubo’s Masterpiece: The Art of Citizen 13660, and opened the JANM 30th Anniversary Digital Film Festival in 2022. The digital film festival highlights work produced by Watase Media Arts Center through screenings and live Q&A sessions with those involved with the films.
