LOS ANGELES, CA – The Japanese American National Museum (JANM) congratulates the new leadership of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) in the 119th Congress. The Museum applauds US Representative Grace Meng for being elected to serve as the caucus’s new chair and thanks Chair Emerita and US Representative Judy Chu for her service since 2011. The Museum also congratulates US Representatives Mark Takano and Jill Tokuda for being elected to serve as the first vice-chair elect and the second vice-chair elect, respectively. Representatives Chu, Takano, and Tokuda are all members of JANM’s Honorary Board.
“JANM thanks Representative Chu for her inspired leadership that helped to ensure that the concerns of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community resonated with all Americans. We also congratulate Representatives Grace Meng on her election as the caucus’s new chair and Mark Takano and Jill Tokuda on their newly elected positions. Their leadership ensures that the full participation and needs of the AANHPI community are reflected in legislation. CAPAC’s commitment to advancing and protecting the constitutional rights of all Americans is needed more urgently now than ever before,” said Ann Burroughs, JANM President and CEO.
