JAPANESE AMERICAN NATIONAL MUSEUM MOURNS THE PASSING OF CONGRESSMAN MARK TAKAI

Statement by Norman Y. Mineta, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Japanese American National Museum, on the passing of US Congressman Mark Takai:

The leadership, staff, and volunteers of the Japanese American National Museum were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Congressman Mark Takai. Along with others in the Japanese American community, we are grateful for Mark’s years of service as a distinguished Army National Guard soldier, longtime Hawai‘i state legislator, and US Congressman. Mark’s leadership on many issues, including his efforts on behalf of veterans and Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Native Hawaiian communities, will be dearly missed.
