Time After Time Capsule Workshop with Kawaii Artist Sebastian Masuda
FREE ALL DAY
In conjunction with JANM’s Oshogatsu Family Festival, help kawaii artist Sebastian Masuda fill two giant time capsules—one shaped like Hello Kitty and one shaped like Domo, the official mascot of Japan’s public broadcaster, NHK! Bring a cherished personal item or write a letter to your future self, which you will work on and decorate at the workshop before adding it to one of the capsules.
Masuda is organizing a total of 10 translucent time capsules as part of a long-term art project that will culminate in Tokyo in 2020. The capsules will all be returned to the cities where they were filled and reopened in 2035. Following this workshop, the capsules will be on view through January 29 as part of paid admission to the museum.
Presented in collaboration with The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles.
