"Moving Day" program presented by Visual Communications

FREE

Each night through August 11, from sunset to midnight, Moving Day presents outdoor projections of Civilian Exclusion Order posters, which were issued during World War II to inform persons of Japanese ancestry of their impending forced removal and incarceration. The date of each projection will coincide with the original issue date of the order being projected. Projections take place on the façade of the museum’s Historic Building.

Before tonight’s projections begin, join us for a special program presented by Visual Communications. Watch short video works from Digital Histories, a video production program created by Visual Communications that gives voice to ethnic-minority seniors from the Los Angeles, Asian Pacific American community. Seniors are particularly marginalized, and a major outcome of this project is the development of a unique voice from each program participant. This program has been compiled by program participant, and Little Tokyo resident Stephen Nagano and will include videos focused on the World War II incarceration.
