Jewelry Workshop—Continuing to Work with "Washi"

Saturday–Sunday, January 27–28
11 a.m.–4 p.m. (both days)

Designed for students who have completed one of our introductory washi classes, this two-day workshop will continue examining the unique properties of washi paper and various methods of working with it to create jewelry.

Explore the challenges of applying washi onto various wooden beads, and experience the excitement of integrating commercial crystal, metal, millefiori, or semi-precious beads with the quiet elegance of washi. By the end of the weekend, each student will have a fully lacquered, single-strand washi necklace, finished with a metal clasp and complemented with a matching pair of earrings.

Bring a shoebox for supplies and a snack/lunch. $64 members, $80 non-members. Materials and museum admission included. Limited to 12 participants.

$25 materials fee has been graciously covered by a grant from the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs.
