The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF), presented annually by Visual Communications (VC), Southern California’s leading showcase for new Asian Pacific American and Asian international cinema, announced today the program for the 39th edition of the festival. The festival returns May 4–15 in Los Angeles and will feature an exciting lineup of in-person programming, along with virtual programming for our audiences at home in Southern California and beyond. JANM is excited to be hosting events and screenings for the LAAPFF again from Friday, May 5 to Sunday, May 7.
On May 4, the Festival will kick off with a community celebration party at the Japanese American National Museum, followed by Opening Night programming on May 5th with the World Premiere of ARMED WITH A CAMERA VOL. 2023 (AWC). This year, AWC will feature six short films produced by Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander artists, in reflection of VC’s renewed commitment to uplifting Native Hawaiian and Pasifika stories.
