Learn How To Cook Or Create Cards On July 11 At The Japanese American National Museum

The Japanese American National Museum is offering a chance for you to create ”nori-seared scallops and soba noodles,” or origami (paper folding) summer flowers, both on July 11 from 1 p.m.–3 p.m. Learn the art of Maui Beach Cafe Cuisine with Chef Mako, or make your own timeless greeting cards with summer flowers; it’s your choice! The Japanese American National Museum is located at 369 East First Street in the Little Tokyo Historic District of Los Angeles. Please call (213) 625-0414 for your reservations or more information.

If anyone can put paradise on a plate, it’s Chef Mako-Segawa Gonzales, your master sensei (teacher) for this delicious portion of the Museum’s Japanese American Cuisine Series. For just $5 for Museum members, and $9 for non-members, you can learn directly from a graduate of America’s premier culinary academy, and protege of Hawaii’s most famous chef. Chef Mako’s dishes, like “ginger-seared ahi,” are sure to tantalize your taste buds!

For those special summer birthdays and occasions, why not create summer flowers and greeting cards for the ones you love? Ryoko Shibata will aptly show you how to utilize origami techniques to make anything your imagination will allow, for free!
