'SAY CHEESE' THEME FOR TARGET FREE FAMILY SATURDAY ON MARCH 14
Photo-taking Workshop, L.A. Photo Party Highlight Free Activities
The popular Target Free Family Saturday series continues at the Japanese American National Museum on March 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the theme, "Say Cheese", with the opportunity to participate in a photo taking workshops and do hands-on craft activities for free, thanks to the generous support of Target.
Among the activities available throughout the program is a photo scavenger hunt, where participants hunt through the Museum galleries for interesting items; the chance to create a fantastic frame to display photographs and the use of sun-sensitive paper to create nature prints. Other activities will include decorating a photo album to keep photographs, drawings, memories, or nature print in and Ruthie’s Origami Corner, where you can make an origami camera.
Another project developing throughout the day is the Discover Nikkei Community Collage. Visitors can share a photograph, story or other items and place it among a collage that highlights the idea of community.
Also, from 1 to 4 p.m., L.A. Photo Party will set up an area that allows your photograph to be taken without the photo booth. The concept for this activity came when the host of a party wanted photographs, but did not want to spend time taking them. So, a camera was set up to take photos every five seconds, and the result was a collection of images of the partygoers making faces, jumping around and acting silly. Downloaded to a computer, the collection of images became another activity for the participants.
