All Camps Swing Dance at the Japanese American National Museum is on June 17, 2023

WHAT:
Explore the impact of swing music and dance on youth in America’s concentration camps in the public program “From Barbed Wire to Boogie Woogie: All Camps Swing Dance with The Fabulous Esquires Big Band.” This program is offered in conjunction with the exhibition Don’t Fence Me In: Coming of Age in America’s Concentration Camps.

This program is the second part of the public program “From Barbed Wire to Boogie Woogie: A Conversation with WWII Concentration Camp Survivors” from 12 p.m.–1:30 p.m. (tickets sold and priced separately), which will explore what it was like to be a young person making the best of a difficult situation through a conversation with dance preservationist Rusty Frank and camp survivors June Aochi Berk and Takayo Tsubochi Fischer.

About the Japanese American National Museum (JANM)
